Colored to the real cross-section — no two same-base conductors touch
This is the grouped color scheme — base colors laid in contiguous, dark/light-alternating bundles
down the spiral. Use the toggles to set each group to 5 or 7 conductors, and to make each group’s
center either a high-contrast landmark (contrasting) or a plain solid in the group’s own
color (solid). Same-base conductors touch within a group by design; the assembler finds the
color region, then reads the stripe to pick the exact conductor. Each conductor is a base color with at most
one plain, solid stripe. The mini cross-section on the right shows these colors on the real packing
geometry from your drawing and updates live if you reorder rows; all three CVD simulations are fixed
columns. (56 ÷ 5 isn’t even, so in 5-mode the last group takes the remainder — 6 conductors.)
Design rules applied
Grouped base colors
Base colors run in contiguous dark/light-alternating bundles down the spiral. Group size
(5 or 7) and the center conductor (contrasting landmark or plain solid) are set by the toggles. Same-base
within a group is intended — conductors are told apart by stripe, not base.
Palette
Six red-green-safe colors: Black, Blue, Light Blue, Yellow, Orange, White. Red,
green, brown, violet dropped — they merge under color blindness.
One stripe only
Solid, or base + one solid stripe. No multi-band, no dashes, no jacket printing.
Neighbor contrast
Every touching pair compared as whole conductors (~72% base / 28% stripe) under normal
vision, deuteranopia, and protanopia; all clear the contrast floor.
No low-contrast base+stripe
These pairings are never used:

Edit any conductor’s base and stripe — or a whole group’s base from its header — with the dropdowns. Set each group’s conductor count in its header, and + Add group as needed; any conductor left without a color shows a red ✕. Drag a row handle (⠿) to move one conductor, or a group header handle (⬚) to move a whole group. Then Save to keep your layout.
